tryingtobeamanofgod

My name is Dwayne Peterkin. I was re-baptized April 2011 and since then I have been doing my best to obey the Lord Jesus Christ and do his will. In this sinful world IT IS NOT EASY to stand up for God. You'll be tested, friendships may fall by the wayside, old habits will fade away. I hope that as I share my Faith Walk, others are encouraged on theirs. I hope you join me on this journey.

Giving Thanks!! (God is good!)

It has been a little while (again) since I’ve blogged and I must share that while I am tryingtobeamanofgod….It isn’t easy.  I have found myself having to read blogs I have previously posted here to help myself along the way. (that is not necessarily a bad thing!)  I pray that the things I have written here continue to help those on their own spiritual journey.

I started this blog because I was in a place in my life where I felt the need to help others know (from my experience) how great God is and what He has done in my life.

I shared my life story to explain how I got to where I am today so that you would know that I am a regular guy (like any one of the disciples that were called from various backgrounds) that pretty much dropped everything and followed Him.

I say all that so you will know that you don’t have to be a certain way before you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.  He will take you as you are and if you are sincere he will work miracles in your life.

As we have just finished the Thanksgiving season, I was reflecting on my journey and I am truly giving thanks for where I am.  I have experienced many struggles recently (about 3 or 4 blogs worth at least) but I thank God for giving me the victory in all of them.

Today I wanted to share that for about the last 12 months or so I have fasted once a month.  In the most recent months I have fasted specifically for certain situations and it has come to pass that God has made movements in those things the same day!

I won’t go into details but this fast I was very specific in what I was asking God for and I asked God to give me a definitive answer in that situation so I would not have any doubts in that area.  Let me tell you after I prayed at lunchtime, when I got back to my desk, GOD DELIVERED!!

Friends I tell you I could have asked the Lord for a man with a blue shirt and red hat to come in my office and it would have happened! That is what I’m telling you how God answered me! I am here to tell you that God still answers prayers.  I know that this may not be the case all the time but I put God to the test and he came through above and beyond.

While I am very grateful and thank Him over and over, it was not only a lesson to me that if you are humble, obedient, and put God first in ALL things you will be blessed; but it was also a lesson to me that on the other side, I need to be careful in how I live and what I do because God can bring his wrath just as swiftly.

So in all things I thank Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior for His goodness and mercy for I am truly blessed and highly favored.  I will be getting out those blogs for my recent experiences because I feel we can all learn from each other and one man sharpens another. I’ll leave you with the words I read during my lunch today…

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today. – Matthew 6:33,34 NLT

and my new favorite…Jeremiah 29 11-13

11For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. 12In those days when you pray, I will listen. 13If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.

Until Later I’m just tryingtobeamanofgod….

Blessings!

Dwayne
