My name is Dwayne Peterkin. I was re-baptized April 2011 and since then I have been doing my best to obey the Lord Jesus Christ and do his will. In this sinful world IT IS NOT EASY to stand up for God. You'll be tested, friendships may fall by the wayside, old habits will fade away. I hope that as I share my Faith Walk, others are encouraged on theirs. I hope you join me on this journey.

If Christ Had Not Come….

A few years ago a striking Christmas card was published, with the title, “If Christ had not come.” It was founded upon our Saviour’s words, “If I had not come.” The card represented a clergyman falling into a short sleep in his study on Christmas morning and dreaming of a world into which Jesus had never come.

In his dream he found himself looking through his home, but there were no little stockings in the chimney corner, no Christmas bells or wreaths of holly, and no Christ to comfort, gladden and save. He walked out on the public street, but there was no church with its spire pointing to Heaven. He came back and sat down in his library, but every book about the Saviour had disappeared.

A ring at the doorbell, and a messenger asked him to visit a poor dying mother. He hastened with, the weeping child and as he reached the home he sat down and said, “I have something here that will comfort you.” He opened his Bible to look for a familiar promise, but it ended at Malachi, and there was no gospel and no promise of hope and salvation, and he could only bow his head and weep with her in bitter despair.

Two days afterward he stood beside her coffin and conducted the funeral service, but there was no message of consolation, no word of a glorious resurrection, no open Heaven, but only “dust to dust, ashes to ashes,” and one long eternal farewell. He realized at length that “He had not come,” and burst into tears and bitter weeping in his sorrowful dream.

Suddenly he woke with a start, and a great shout of joy and praise burst from his lips as he heard his choir singing in his church close by:

“O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant,

O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem;

Come and behold Him, born the King of Angels,

O come let us adore Him, Christ, the Lord.”

Let us be glad and rejoice today, because “He has come.” And let us remember the annunciation of the angel, “Behold I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people, for unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:10, 11).

“He comes to make His blessing flow, Far as the curse is found.”

May our hearts go out to the people in heathen lands who have no blessed Christmas day. “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and SEND PORTIONS TO THEM

The Greatest Gift

gift-box (1)As we are on the Eve of Christmas, I just wanted to say that while this is a great  time for gift giving, family, food, and fun, let us not forget the Greatest Gift of All and the reason for the season….Jesus Christ the Lord. Emanuel! (God with us!)

May God be with you and your families this Holiday season, and may you accept the Greatest Gift ever, the one Jesus gave for you…His Life and His Grace so that you may have Salvation through Him.

2 Corinthians 2:9 says “Thank God for this gift too wonderful for words!”

1 Corinthians 3:13 says “Three things will last forever–faith, hope, and love–and the greatest of these is love.”

May the Love of God be with you and your families throughout this Holiday season and always.

Real Talk….

Let me start by saying I am blessed and highly favored. My oldest son is home for the holidays and it is great to see him and talk with him as he is coming into his manhood.  He has a real good head on his shoulders and I am extremely proud of him. As he lives out of state we do not see each other as often as we would like to but we have an unbreakable bond that does not require us to even speak to know how the other feels.  We definitely spend “quality time” when we are together and even when we are apart, whenever we speak, it’s all good!

Thinking of the relationship we have and how I feel, it makes me feel like this is a small glimpse of the relationship God the Father has with his son Jesus.  I’ve been having some really good conversations, “real talk” as it were, and it is very filling.  Good for the soul.

In light of last Friday’s incident in Connecticut, I believe parents around the nation (and the world for that matter)  are appreciating their children more and that is a good thing.  Maybe they will turn off the TV and talk and interact more with them and take advantage of the precious time they have together.  I pray people take time to have “real talk” with their children no matter their age and get to know their children and not just co-exist with them or be estranged from them.

I’m truly enjoying my oldest son at this time and watching him interact with his younger brother and other members of the family. I played a few games of 21 with my son’s on the court the other day….PRICELESS!  I don’t know, I guess I’m just real happy and just wanted to share.  So No bible verses, no quotes, I’m just happy and blessed….Real talk….

Each one Teach one…

Our experiences are what God gives us to help others.  When things happen to us in life it is so easy to say “why me?” I’ve come to know that the question is not “why me?” it’s more like God is saying “why not you?” or “it’s you because I need you to experience this so you can help someone else”.

It is said you can’t have a testimony without a test.  So true.  I’ve come to know that sometimes our experiences are not for us, they are for the next person that comes across our path.  You see God can use us by putting us in the right place at the right time to help the right person. Each one can teach one through their own experiences. I know you’ve heard whatever doesn’t kill  you makes you stronger, and If God brings you to it, he’ll see you through it. All true.

The Master tells us in His Word  “Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation! For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer. We are confident that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in the comfort God gives us.” (2 Cor. 1:6,7 NLT)

Friends, delight in the rough times, a loved one may have passed, you may have lost a job, or experienced a divorce, lost your home, etc.  because it’s just God refining you and preparing you for His blessings.  He is giving you that experience, he’s using it to mold you, so you can share His love to help someone else along their way…

Share yourself…Each one teach one!

The Do Over

sandkey sunset 12_01_12

Today I posted on my Facebook page that at 8:17 AM I was already looking for a do over.  It was really a crazy morning at work and on a  Monday, it’s pretty much expected.  I’m also battling a cold so that doesn’t help either.

I miss that childhood innocence that if you don’t like what you’ve just done, or if the result of whatever you are participating in is not to your liking that you can just shout “do over!” and give it another try.

So today I left work after my morning meeting, ate some soup, and got back in bed.  I was thinking that this is about as best as I can get for a do over today.  But after I got real with myself and stopped whining (the whole world is coming to an end when I’m sick!) I realized that through Christ, I have gotten the biggest do over ever!

As I think of the man I was and look at the man I have become, I am truly thankful! Mind you this do over came with its share of pain to myself and others but nothing compares to the ultimate price  our Savior paid so that we can have a chance for a do over of our sinful life.

2 Corinthians 5:17 states:  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

What a privilege it is to have this opportunity! Jesus gave us the ultimate do over and  I am so thankful for it!  That is why I do my best to live like Matthew 6:33  says: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Jesus gave His life for me so I feel that the least I can do is try to live this life the best I can….I know I can never repay Him, but the least I can do is try to do His work and His will, with the do over He gave me….

Blessings friends! I pray everyone who reads this is blessed and impressed to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior and accept His gift of the do over!

Until later…I’m just tryingtobeamanofgod!
