My name is Dwayne Peterkin. I was re-baptized April 2011 and since then I have been doing my best to obey the Lord Jesus Christ and do his will. In this sinful world IT IS NOT EASY to stand up for God. You'll be tested, friendships may fall by the wayside, old habits will fade away. I hope that as I share my Faith Walk, others are encouraged on theirs. I hope you join me on this journey.

God’s Timing…

laz

My Devotion this morning spoke of Lazarus.  Lazarus was sick and near dead.  So Lazarus’ sisters Mary and Martha came to Jesus and said “Lord, the one you love is sick.”4When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.” 5Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 6So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days, 7and then he said to his disciples, “Let us go back to Judea.” John 11:3-7

When He arrived Martha  said to Jesus “Lord if you had been here my brother would not have died” (v. 21)

Jesus loved Lazarus as well as Mary and Martha.  Notice that as much as He loved them, he did not rush to go save him.  He had a plan.  Jesus purposely delayed going so that Lazarus would die, (and be dead and stinking for that matter.)  He had to make sure that this was the case so that His miracle could be performed.

My brothers and sisters, whatever you are going through now, God allows it so that His miracles can be performed.  Things may be dead and stinking, but like Mary, Martha, and Lazarus, he loves us.  He may be delaying His work but He has not forgotten us or forsaken us.

Let us not lose faith in our Lord and Savior or be like Martha and wonder where God is in the midst of our troubles but let us trust in Him ALWAYS and wait in confidence for Him to work His miracles in our lives!

Until later, I’m just tryingtobeamanofgod!

Riding on “E”

Hello Friends! It has been 3 weeks since my last Post and I apologize for the hiatus.  When I write my Posts and I go back and read them, I realize that sometimes when I write, I am writing for myself.

In the past few weeks It seems that I have been so busy with the responsibilities of work, family, selling my home and preparing to move, Church related activities, as well as the daily challenges that seem to come up out of nowhere that sometimes I feel like I’m riding on ‘E’!

I know someone can relate out there.  You see I am no stranger to riding with my gas tank on ‘E’ as I drive on average just under a thousand miles a week.  At times when I am “financially challenged”, I can tell you that it can be a stressful feeling when you HAVE to be someplace and you are riding on E.  The newer cars today have a Range meter that will tell you exactly how many miles you can drive until you are empty. (How I could have used that option years ago).

My niece calls it riding on Excitement, Some say Riding on Fumes, Riding on Hope, etc. In all honesty, I have found myself riding on Spiritual Fumes lately. I have had to follow my own advice and “Be Still” sometimes, or Do Not Worry About Tomorrow .   My gas light has been on, my miles to empty have been in the single digits, some days I sputter but I thank God that I have my Heavenly Debit Card and that I have been able to fill my tank on the Word of God in order to make it to my destination.

Friends we need to cling to the Lord when we get overwhelmed, trust that he won’t let us run out of gas, we need to pray with out ceasing, we need to fill our Spiritual gas tanks with the Holy Spirit. We need constant communication with the Lord,  We need to study of the Word, and above all trust Him in all things.

Let us not forget how good God has been to us and the many times He has come through for us in many situations.  If he has done it before he will do it again if only trust and believe in Him.  Phillippians 4:6-9 NLT says:

6Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

8And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. 9Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.

Reading these verses over the past few weeks have kept me from running out of gas when I was riding on ‘E’. Remember that we are never alone in our trials and we just need to cast our burdens on Him and have the faith of a mustard seed.

As always brothers and sisters, be encouraged and not discouraged. Remember Proverbs 3:6 – In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Be Blessed!  Until later, I’m just tryingtobeamanofgod!

Reboot!

I have worked in the IT industry for over 20 years.  Having an Operations background you run across many system related problems and many PC related problems.

Today there are a lot of buzz words that you hear used in the industry like “Cloud” computing, and some make their way in to pop culture and even into the dictionary, like “Google”.

So that got me to thinking about  the term reboot,  and when you would actually perform one on a PC.

When you call tech support  for help trouble shooting your PC one of the first things they ask is if you rebooted your PC.  That is usually the big fix for most issues.  I can’t log on to the network – “Reboot!” My PC crashed – “Reboot!”, etc.

I was watching the movie Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead, which is a very good movie about “juicing”.  In the movie they mentioned the word “reboot” as they referred to cleansing your body and changing what you put into your body as you start your diet.

Then I thought how many times do we need a Spiritual Reboot?  We need to be connected to God’s Network.  If we’re not – we need to reboot.  How many Pop ups are we allowing in our lives that are causing viruses in our spiritual life?  Are we running our lives without the Critical Updates such as prayer and Bible Study? Have we clicked on something we shouldn’t have and now we have a Virus?  Maybe we are headed for the Blue Screen of death in our spiritual lives because we don’t have God’s Service Pack Installed.  We need to go read the manual (which is the Bible) so we can install the latest Fix.

Friends we need to Format our Hearts and install God’s Operating system.  We need to Spam others and tell them about the Love of Jesus Christ.  Tell them to Click Now because they may have already won Eternal Life!

Malachi 3:10 says “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”

See…God is our Server and He’s running Windows of Heaven Open System…It’s time for an upgrade in our Spiritual lives…

I am connected to the “Cloud” of Glory and I am running Windows of Heaven Version Seventh Day Adventist, because I don’t mess with Apples!!

Until later….I’m just tryingtobeamanofgod…

Blessings,

Dwayne
